UNELCO is proud to welcome Mrs. Jennifer LIVO TARI as its 10,000th water customer on the Port-Vila concession.

Mrs. LIVO TARI has recently purchased a land in Bladinières Estate, and with her new water connection, she will be able to start building her own house.

Since the beginning of the Port Vila water concession in 1994, the number of customers has increased from 3,173 to 10,000 this year.

In close collaboration with the Ministry of Lands, the initial water supplied area has been extended several times to include new peri-urban areas and more recently Teoumaville and soon Teouma Valley. The water distribution network now spans over 250 km.

This is in direct line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 6 “to ensure safe drinking water […] for all” and the Vanuatu People’s Plan ECO 2.2 which is to “[e]nsure all people have reliable access to safe drinking water infrastructure”
